The Muscle of Faith
As we age, maintaining muscle mass becomes increasingly important for a healthy life. Muscles not only shape our bodies but also support our posture, protect our bones, and help us stay active. If our muscle mass decreases, our motor skills may slow down, making us more prone to falls, and increasing the risk of fractures. Additionally, as muscle mass declines, the number of calories burned through metabolism decreases, which raises the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. So, it’s essential to maintain our muscle mass. But how can we do this?
The most reliable way to maintain muscle is through exercise. Activities like brisk walking, indoor cycling, and bodyweight exercises are effective. The key to building muscle through exercise is repetition. When we repeat the same movements, our bodies create muscle. Even though these exercises may be light, doing them daily and consistently helps us maintain our muscles and live a healthy life.
I believe that our faith is like a muscle. Just as the consistent repetition of simple movements builds muscle in our bodies, our faith grows stronger when we repeatedly worship God, pray, read the Bible, and serve others with love. These repeated practices strengthen the muscle of our faith. September marks the time when we resume our church activities after taking the summer off. Sunday school, Bible study, and choir practices will begin again. Especially this fall, we’ll be running an Afterschool program. I encourage you to participate consistently and regularly in the ministry and mission of the church. By doing so, we can grow our faith together through our church. Amen.
